Seedance 2.5 is one of the flagship video models on NOLGIA, strong on physics and long single takes with native sound. It now has a 1080p tier above its 480p and 720p tiers, and the same model id can take a clip of yours and reference it, edit it or extend it.

What changed

Pick 1080p in the video composer's quality picker when Seedance 2.5 is the model. It sits above 480p and 720p and carries the premium tag. 720p stays the default.

At 1080p, Seedance 2.5 renders widescreen and vertical frames, 16:9 and 9:16. Its other shapes, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 and 21:9, render at 480p and 720p. When you pick 1080p, the composer narrows the shape picker to what the tier renders and moves an unsupported shape onto one that works, with a note, so you never pay for a request that cannot run.

Clips run from 4 to 30 seconds, and Seedance 2.5 is on Pro and up. Topping up credits does not unlock it on a lower plan.

Reference, edit or extend a clip

Seedance 2.5 now does more from one model id. Next to a prompt, a start frame, an end frame and up to nine reference images, it takes up to ten reference videos and ten audio tracks. Give it a clip and it runs one of three tasks.

  • Reference. Your clip drives the motion, the timing and the camera, and your reference images set what the shot shows. It renders at the length, shape and tier you ask for.
  • Edit. Your clip is the footage, and it comes back with one change, such as a swapped product, garment or location. It keeps the source's length and shape, and it is billed at the source length on the tier you pick.
  • Extend. Your clip carries on past its last frame for the length you ask for, in the source's own shape.

Edit and extend each take exactly one reference video. For an edit, the clip must be one of your stored videos, 4 to 30 seconds long; a raw video link is refused. On the Seedance 2.5 page, the Reference mode field offers Reference, Edit and Extend.

Which tier to use

Draft at 480p, settle the shot, then render the keeper at 1080p. The cost scales with the tier and with the length of the clip, so drafting low and finishing high keeps the spend down.

  • 480p: the cheapest tier, for testing a prompt or a camera move.
  • 720p: the default for most clips.
  • 1080p: the final render of a shot you already like, in 16:9 or 9:16.

The rate above is read live from the catalog. It covers a 5 second clip, and a longer clip costs proportionally more.

Is 1080p enough, or do you need 4K? We rendered one prompt both ways and measured the files in Seedance 2.5 at 1080p or Seedance 2.0 Pro at 4K. For how to write for the model, with every prompt run and shown, read Seedance 2.5: how to prompt it.

Through the API

Send quality: "1080p" with model: "seedance-2.5" on POST /generate/video. A shape the tier does not render is refused before any credits are held.

To work from a clip, attach it as a reference video and set video_task to reference, edit or extend. Leave video_task out and the provider works out the task from your prompt. A task sent without a reference video is refused.

The model page has a playground, the API request and the command to run it from a terminal, and the NOLGIA MCP server gives Claude Code and other MCP clients the same model.

Presets that run on it

The Seedance 2.5 page lists the presets that use it. Two say so in their own descriptions: Animated cartoon renders on Seedance 2.5 for stylised 2D motion, and Film scene sends long single takes with real physics and native audio to it.

A cartoon inventor in goggles and a round grey robot ride a rocket-cart towards the camera down a street of gingerbread houses dripping with icing.
