How to use it

NOLGIA Agent asks these questions in a chat, one at a time, with your own material.

  1. The vehicles and the junction

Write it in your own words. The two vehicles, where they meet, and the time of day.

For example: A grey sedan and a white van, a dusk junction in an empty industrial district

  2. The camera and the impactOptional

Write it in your own words. Where the camera stands, the speed and the angle. You can skip this.

For example: Low wide angle, the van takes the sedan's front quarter

  3. Picture shapeOptional

Pick one. Wide, tall or square, depending on where it will be shown.

    • Widescreen 16:9
    • Vertical 9:16
    • Square 1:1
  4. Create

One press of Create makes your video and saves it to your Library. The price is on the button, and nothing runs until you press it. It takes 2 to 5 minutes.

About this preset

Simulate a car crash gives you the collision beat as one unbroken shot: two vehicles meeting in a junction, the bodywork actually deforming where they touch, glass and debris carrying through, and the wreck settling in frame rather than cutting away on impact.

You bring the vehicles, the junction and the angle, or let it choose. The street comes back empty and both cabs come back empty, so the shot stays about the physics. Nothing carries a badge, a sign or a plate you did not ask for, which is what makes it safe to put in a safety film or a client cut.

Use cases

  • An impact beat for a thriller or an action short
  • A road safety film without filming a real crash
  • An insurance or forensic explainer reconstruction
  • Previs for a stunt you are costing out
  • A collision beat inside a game trailer

Examples

Made with this preset, with the prompt behind each one.

  • Head on offset collision on a bare industrial apron, 16:9, one continuous side on take with the wreck settling in frame

Cinematic crash shot, 16:9, one continuous take from a fixed low tripod set square on to a straight test lane so both vehicles are seen side on in profile for the whole shot, on the bare concrete apron of an industrial yard under soft overcast daylight, open damp concrete in every direction, a long windowless warehouse wall of plain grey corrugated steel with two closed grey roller doors running along the far side, and a row of unpainted concrete blocks marking the lane edge. A mid grey four door saloon comes in fast from screen left and a small dark blue hatchback comes in slower from screen right; they meet head on and offset, the saloon's near front quarter striking the hatchback's near front quarter. The impact folds both bonnets upward at the contact point, the lighter hatchback is shoved backwards and its tail lifts off the ground and slams down, the saloon's nose dips and its rear wheels lift for an instant, the windscreens crack and the side glass bursts into a spray of cubes that carries on in the direction each car was travelling, wheel trims and a bumper skin skid away across the concrete, and both vehicles pivot a few degrees about the contact point and come to rest locked together, rocking once on their suspension, with steam rising from the saloon and a low cloud of dust hanging in the air after the impact and drifting slowly to the right. The camera holds both vehicles in frame throughout, no cut and no reframe. Every surface is plain: bare grey concrete, unpainted blocks, a flat corrugated wall and an empty pale sky, with no buildings beyond, no signs, no hoardings and no lettering anywhere. Cool even daylight, soft reflections on the damp concrete, the horizon empty. The yard is deserted and both cabs are empty. The vehicles are generic and unbranded, with smooth bare bonnets, grilles, doors, sills and tailgates carrying no badge, emblem, model script, logo, wordmark or trademark of any kind, plain unpainted steel wheels, and their number plate holders are empty. Impact, tearing metal, breaking glass, the skitter of debris on concrete, then a settling hiss of steam and light wind. No on-screen text, no watermark. Use only the brand names, logos and trademarks the customer includes in their request; never add real-world brands, logos or trademarked designs the customer did not mention.

  • Rear end collision on a bare proving ground, 16:9, one continuous take with the wreck settling in frame

Cinematic crash shot, 16:9, one continuous take from a fixed low tripod set square on to the lane so both vehicles are seen side on in profile, on a bare concrete proving ground under a flat overcast midday sky, open tarmac in every direction with only a low unpainted concrete barrier wall along the far edge and a line of orange traffic cones marking the lane. A small white hatchback comes in fast from screen left and hits the back of a stationary dark green flat sided work pickup parked at the end of the lane. The impact folds the hatchback's bonnet and crumples its front end into the pickup's tailgate, the pickup lurches forward and its rear glass bursts into a spray of cubes, the hatchback's tail lifts and drops, and both vehicles skid a short way to the right and come to rest nose to tail with steam rising from the hatchback. Debris and a low cloud of dust drift across the tarmac. The camera holds both vehicles in frame throughout, no cut and no reframe. Every surface is plain: bare grey concrete, an unpainted barrier wall and an empty sky, with no buildings, no signs, no hoardings and no lettering anywhere. Cool even overcast light, damp tarmac, the horizon empty. The proving ground is deserted and both cabs are empty. The vehicles are generic and unbranded, with smooth bare bonnets, grilles, doors and tailgates carrying no badge, emblem, model script, logo, wordmark or trademark of any kind, and their number plate holders are empty. Impact, tearing metal, breaking glass and a settling hiss of steam, no music. No on-screen text, no watermark. Use only the brand names, logos and trademarks the customer includes in their request; never add real-world brands, logos or trademarked designs the customer did not mention.

  • Single vehicle into a coastal guard rail, 16:9, one continuous take with the wreck settling in frame

Cinematic crash shot, 16:9, one continuous take from a fixed low camera on the inside of the bend, set square on to the road so the car is seen side on in profile as it passes, on a deserted two lane coastal road at golden hour, a bare rock cliff behind the camera position, a steel guard rail on concrete posts along the far edge of the road and the open sea beyond it, no buildings anywhere. A dark red estate car comes into frame from screen left too fast, understeers across the lane away from camera and strikes the guard rail with its far front quarter. The impact crumples the wing and bonnet, the rail bows outward and a post buckles, the car slews along the barrier shedding trim and glass and comes to rest hard against the rail, angled away from camera with the front wheel folded under and a wisp of steam rising. Debris and a low cloud of dust drift across the road. The camera holds the whole stretch of road and barrier in frame, no cut and no reframe. Every surface is plain: grey asphalt with a worn centre line, galvanised steel rail, open sky and sea, with no signs, no hoardings and no lettering anywhere. Low warm sunlight from the right, long shadows across the road, glare on the water. The road is deserted and the cab is empty. The car is generic and unbranded, with a smooth bare bonnet, grille, doors and tailgate carrying no badge, emblem, model script, logo, wordmark or trademark of any kind, and its number plate holders are empty. Impact, tearing metal, breaking glass and the creak of the rail, then wind and surf, no music. No on-screen text, no watermark. Use only the brand names, logos and trademarks the customer includes in their request; never add real-world brands, logos or trademarked designs the customer did not mention.
